Make Noise, Listen for Signal: How I Grew to 400K+ Followers
Why consistency, not perfection, is the not-so-secret ingredient to creative success
I spent years debating whether I should start creating online. Stuck in the analysis-paralysis loop.
Every day I'd open my browser. Every day I'd close it without posting anything.
→ No focus
→ No confidence
→ Filled with self-doubt
But one thing was obvious. I was going nowhere standing still, staring at the wall in front of me.
That wall haunted me for an embarrassingly long time. Until I started meeting other creators and realized something profound: they'd all stood in front of the same wall.
Everyone starts at zero.
And despite knowing this truth, I—like every other aspiring creator—fell into the same faulty belief:
"I will start once I know more. When I'm better prepared."
Day after day, I stared at that wall, convinced it was keeping me from moving forward. Until I did the one thing I'd been avoiding: I took a step closer. And that's when I saw it.
The path was in front of me the whole time!
But you only see the second step once you overcome the first.
What’s the first step?
“Make noise, listen for signal.”
↳ Make noise = Share the "good enough" ideas.
↳ Listen for signal = See what works, what fails, what surprises you.
That's it. No waiting for perfect conditions. Just start.
Every creator you admire was once exactly where you are—wondering if they're good enough, smart enough, creative enough.
They weren't. But they started anyway.
Because that fear and doubt? It never fully goes away—you just get better at taking the next step.
The more stuff you make, the more you shrink the gap between uncertainty and clarity.
I've made a lot of noise these last 3 years. 900+ posts that weren't perfect but still published. The key lesson:
Consistency beats perfection every time.
It's not that you don't aim for quality—it's that you earn quality through quantity. Each imperfect post teaches lessons as you create.
That's how I grew 400K+ followers.
But you know what was better than the numbers? The people behind the numbers. Creators, entrepreneurs, and students with big ambitions and bigger hearts.
Not bad for someone who’s still making it up as they go.
Think of your creative journey like crossing a bridge. It's scary when you look down at the gap between where you are and where you want to be.
That's why you focus ahead—on the next step, not the entire distance.
Remember, there are people crossing with you, learning WITH you. Give them encouragement as they cheer for you.
Every person who's already reached the other side? They stood exactly where you're standing now. And if they made it across, so can you.
The bridge is waiting.
